Year 9 Options Evening

Options Evening 2026

We are holding Options Evening for our Year 9 students on Thursday 5^th February between 5 and 7pm. The evening is being held to guide your son/daughter through the options process at Cove school.

There will be a formal presentation in the main hall, at 5 pm and 6 pm, please attend one of these sessions.

The presentation will guide you through the options process and GCSE subjects we offer, this will last approximately 20 minutes. Along with the presentation you will be provided with our options booklet.

All subjects will have a display stand and teaching staff will be available to discuss the course content, along with how the subject will be assessed. We will also have a selection of local colleges will be there too so that you can look at different pathways, including apprenticeships when they leave school.

During the weeks leading up to Options Evening, you child will be receiving information on careers and subjects on offer at Cove during assemblies and in tutor time.

Once your child has made their choices, they will enter their choices online via Edval Choice. Information on how to complete the online submission will be explained during Options Evening and in Year 9 school assembly. Access to this will be available following Options Evening. Student choices must be completed by 27^th February 2026.

We will then look at the choices made as a whole and if there are any conflicts or issues, we will discuss these with both the student and parent. We aim to confirm your child’s option choices by 5^th June 2026
