A very Warm Welcome to COVE SCHOOL

It is a huge privilege and a source of great pride to welcome you to Cove School as Headteacher. Having known the school and the local community for many years, I feel incredibly fortunate to now lead such a special school. I am excited about working with our students, staff, parents, governors and the wider community as we continue to build on the strong foundations that already exist at Cove. 

At the heart of Cove are our three values: Care, Character and Academic Excellence. These values shape the school we want to be and the experience we want every student to have. We care deeply about our students as individuals, ensuring that they feel safe, valued and that they truly belong to our school community. We want every student to develop the character, confidence and resilience they need to thrive, both at Cove and beyond. 

Alongside this, we have high expectations of every student. We want all our young people to be the very best version of themselves and to make the most of their time at Cove. Secondary education is a hugely important opportunity in a young person’s life, and we want to ensure that every student makes the most of their one chance to experience it. This means providing excellent teaching, a rich and ambitious curriculum and the support and challenge that enables every student to achieve their potential and secure the outcomes they need for their next steps. 

We also believe that education is about much more than what happens in the classroom. Our students have access to a wide range of opportunities that allow them to discover new interests, develop talents and build confidence. From sport and performing arts to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Commando Joe’s, Charter Education and the many clubs, trips, visits and activities available to students, we want Cove to be a place where young people can experience new things and create memories that will stay with them long after they leave us. 

Strong relationships are central to everything we do. We want our students to develop positive relationships with their peers and with the adults who work with them, built on mutual respect, kindness and trust. We also recognise the important role that parents and carers play in supporting young people to succeed. By working together, and as an active part of our wider local community, we can ensure that Cove continues to be the school our students deserve. 

I am incredibly excited about the future of Cove School. Together, I believe we can build on all that is great about our school, continue to improve and ensure that every student leaves Cove with the knowledge, character, confidence and outcomes they need to take their next steps successfully.
