Our Vision and Roadmap

At Cove School, we are proud of our strong foundations and excited about our future. 

Our ambition is simple: every student should leave Cove as the very best version of themselves, confident in who they are, proud of what they have achieved and equipped with the knowledge, skills and character to open doors to their future. 

Our values of Care, Character and Academic Excellence sit at the heart of everything we do. We want Cove to be a school where every student feels safe, valued and that they belong; where high expectations are the norm; where excellent teaching inspires a love of learning; and where young people are given the experiences, opportunities and support they need to thrive. 

We are ambitious for Cove. We will build on what already works well, address the areas where we can do better and continue to invest in our students, our staff and our school. Our roadmap for the coming years is focused on creating a school community where every student can flourish and every member of staff can succeed. 
 

Our Priorities for the 2026-2027 academic year and beyond  

Safeguarding 

• Continue to develop a strong, open and proactive safeguarding culture in which every student is known, listened to and supported to feel safe. 

• Strengthen our systems, training and partnership working so that safeguarding remains everyone's responsibility and students are protected from harm. 

Inclusion 

• Ensure that every student, including those with SEND, disadvantaged students and those facing barriers to learning, receives the right support and opportunity to succeed. 

• Develop an increasingly inclusive culture where difference is understood, belonging is strengthened and every student is enabled to participate fully in the life of Cove. 

Curriculum and Teaching 

• Deliver an ambitious, broad and carefully sequenced curriculum that builds powerful knowledge and skills, develops a love of learning and prepares students exceptionally well for their next steps. 

• Continue to invest in teaching, professional development and high-quality classroom practice so that every student experiences excellent teaching and is both supported and challenged to achieve their best. 

Achievement 

• Raise aspirations and outcomes so that students leave Cove with the qualifications, knowledge and confidence they need to open doors to future education, employment and opportunities. 

• Use assessment and high-quality information intelligently to identify gaps in learning, respond to need and ensure that all students make strong progress from their starting points. 

Attendance and Behaviour 

• Embed our belief that every child, every day, every lesson matters, with a relentless focus on improving attendance and removing barriers to students being in school and ready to learn. 

• Establish consistently high expectations for behaviour, conduct and attitudes to learning, creating calm, purposeful classrooms where all students can learn without disruption and take pride in their school. 

Personal Development and Wellbeing 

• Give every student opportunities to develop their character, confidence, resilience and independence through an extensive programme of enrichment, leadership, sport, the arts, careers and wider experiences. 

• Prepare students for life beyond Cove by developing responsible, respectful and active young people who understand themselves, value others and make a positive contribution to their community. 

Leadership and Governance 

• Build a culture of ambitious, accountable and collaborative leadership, with governors, leaders, staff, students and parents working together to drive continuous improvement across the school. 

• Invest in the future of Cove, including our buildings, facilities and wider school environment, creating spaces that our students and staff can be proud of. Over time, we will explore opportunities for further capital investment and new facilities - including our ambition for an all-weather AstroTurf facility - alongside ensuring that the school has the staffing capacity and resources needed to support our growing ambitions. 
   

Our Cove Future 

We want Cove to be recognised as a school at the heart of its community: ambitious for every student, uncompromising in its care and committed to academic excellence. 

Our journey will not be about standing still or simply maintaining what we already have. It will be about building, improving and investing - in our people, our curriculum, our students and our environment. 

Most importantly, it will be about ensuring that every young person who joins Cove has the opportunity to discover what they are capable of and leaves us ready to take their next step with confidence, character and ambition.
