As Head of Year 9, I was extremely proud of all the Year 9 students who attended the District Athletics event this week. Despite the miserable weather conditions throughout the day, our students demonstrated the true values of what it means to be a proud member of Cove School.

Every student showed outstanding resilience, determination and grit, whilst continually supporting, motivating and encouraging one another across all events. It was fantastic to see the way they represented the school, not only through their performances, but through their attitude, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the competition. It was a very proud moment for me to witness as their Head of Year.

A special mention must go to:

  • Elle G, who once again won the Discus event with an impressive throw of 19.43m
  • Ozzy B, who secured 3rd place in his event with a throw of 23.67m

Well-done to all involved for representing the school so positively.

It was a fantastic day of athletics, with students representing the school with great effort, determination, and sportsmanship throughout.

On the track, Cassie C performed well in a competitive 100m heat, finishing 3rd and narrowly missing out on qualification. Josephine M had a strong run, successfully qualifying from her 100m heat with a time of 15.90 seconds.

In the 300m heats, both Emily O and Jamila J impressed, with Emily finishing 2nd in her heat in a time of 54 seconds, alongside a strong performance from Jamila.

In the field events, Ella P secured an excellent 2nd place in the javelin, achieving a throw of 29.71m.

There were also standout performances from Samuel B, who achieved 3rd place in both the 100m final and the shot put, showing great versatility across events.

A special mention must go to Alfie B, who delivered an outstanding performance, taking 1st place in both the 200m final and the long jump.

Beyond the results, all students demonstrated a really positive attitude and excellent behaviour throughout the day, representing the school brilliantly.
