GCSE Results

Our summer was rather fabulous too! I am hoping you read the article in the press about the GCSE results achieved by the outgoing year 11, but just in case you didn’t (and even if you did!) I am delighted to announce they achieved the highest results in the history of Cove, with 60% of the year group achieving the golden standard of 5 or more A* - C grades including English and Maths. This was 7% higher than last year’s results and bucked the local picture as all other local schools experienced drops in their headline figures.

We were particularly delighted with our English and Maths results. A whopping 80% of the year group achieved a C or better in English, 15% above the national average. In maths, a key area for improvement identified by Ofsted, 68% of the year group achieved the magic standard; again above the national average for the first time ever. In another year of significant volatility, especially in English and Maths results, these represent superb progress for Cove.

Very nearly half of the year group achieved at least one A* or A, with many of them gaining significantly more. Amongst some of the high attaining students were:

Bluebell Thorp-Jones– 8A*s, 3As

Zach Edwards – 8A*s, 3As

Matthew Romaine – 6A*s, 5As

Lauren Kerfoot – 4A*s, 7As

Isaac Priest – 4A*s, 6As, 1B

Michelle Madin – 3A*s, 9As

Elenor Perrett – 3A*s, 8As

Sarah Johns – 3A*s, 5As, 3Bs
